A Complete Guide Featuring Types of Essays

In professional lives very few people like scholars use to write essays. In School College and university it is the most common task. Essays are generally used by researchers because it is a good way of measuring students' thinking skills and writing skills. Essays make the students to prove their understanding of the material they have been taught about a particular topic. There are many types of essay but in this paper only few famous are being discussed below.



The first type of essay is an argumentative essay.It is the type of essay which makes a statement and then gives examples and proof to prove that statement. An argumentative essay is written by deciding on a certain topic. It can be a belief, idea, or controversial issue. Then required information is being researched. The information can be statistics, stories, examples, observances, and other facts.  The information is used throughout the essay to argue the point and convince the reader. The next type is expository essay. The function of the expository essay is to explain the reader by giving direction and instruction or to inform about how to do a certain task.  It is important that tone that is being used be sensible and that the presentation be truthful and authentic. The example that comes under this essay is how to drive a car or describe three things you would like to change about the world and explain why you would change them.


A narrative essay is about telling a story. The determinations of writing narrative essays comprises of the following. Firstly to make a logic of shared history, to deliver entertainment, to provide instruction, and to offer understanding. Some examples of narrative essay topics include a special person, event, or place. After choosing a topic one should decide the main on which the essay revolve around and then focus on that throughout the rest of the essay.

A descriptive essay tells about a particular topic or story which is being given. It gives readers the ability to intensely imagine the situation or scene and feel as if he is actual feeling it. If a person wants to write a descriptive essay he could choose person, place, event, object, and experience and describe it through his five senses.

A comparison and contrast is about two or more topics. This essay tells about varies from similarities and differences. If a person wants to write this type of essay, he must choose two or more objects, people, places, events, or ideas and compare and contrast them by defining similarities and differences.
A cause and effect essay examines what causes certain things to happen or why things are going in a certain way. For example, cause and effect essay include an essay which is about event of a person’s life and then tell how it affected your life. This would tell the cause (the event) and the effect (how it affected your life). Example of this essay includes Video games and its effects on eye sight Etc.
